I think it's supposed to be spread out to help control blood sugar and hunger. ?? What do you eat that has 25g's in it? I always have trouble getting enough protein from such little portions.
I'm talking about protein supplements. I use the Pure brand from bariatriceating.com. One scoop is 24g, so today I made a small milkshake with 2 scoops, which is 48g. It mixes really well and is truly tasteless, so the shake was fine, but I don't know if I'm supposed to have it all in one shot. Let me tell ya, though, I'm stuffed. The whole shake was probably not more than 10 oz, and I cannot begin to think about eating supper with my family right now.
You could do it, if you can get it in. It won't serve your muscles quite as well but protein is the best source of calories - your body metabolises it all, as opposed to fat or carb types of calories. You are better off spacing it out but if it's all you can do, it's better than not trying.
Trick is, you will fill up quite quickly on that amount of protein. I'd have to say something like "good luck getting it in." :)

Hi sunshine! From all my reading, you body really only absorbs and uses about 30grams of protein at a time...so the extra would kind of be a waste.
ReplyDeleteSo how much is "at a time" exactly? As in, should I have 4 hours between my high protein snacks/meals? 8 hours? What is it, do you think?
ReplyDeleteI would wait at least 4 to 6 hours between does of high protien, but hten again, I'm not a nutritionist! :)
